Samuel “Tripp” Moultrie III and “Promiscuous Nic” Nicholo Neri met while serving in the Air Force.  They were stationed at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs where they ran the military network for four years.  They fast became friends and even after their eventual separation, their love of all things geek, gaming, and gadgets – kept them in touch.  Eventually they reunited at 2009 Comic Con and something wonderful happened…

Nic – “Hey ugh, you wanna like do a web comic or something…?”

Tripp – “Yeah, that’d be pretty sweet.”

Two Tokens was born.

FAQ

So what is Two Tokens about?

It’s the misadventures of Black and Tan (among others) as they interact and discuss geek culture – everything from games to movies to gadgets.

Great, another gaming web-comic then right?

Wrong.  Well, mostly wrong.  Yes, we do game-related strips but we have a take on everything from sci-fi to pop culture in general.  Sure there are a lot of other web-comic that address the similar material, but Black and Tan look at geek culture from a racial perspective that will make you laugh and hopefully puts a new spin on an old formula.

So who’s the comic for?

Anyone with an appreciation for anything geek will find something here.

Are the characters based on real people?

Yes and no.  Black and Tan are loosely based on Samuel F. “Tripp” Moultrie III and Nicholo Neri respectively.  Both Black and Tan are a bit exaggerated when compared to their real-live counterparts, although some of their traits were definitely inspired by actual behavior.  Black’s addictive gaming persona is probably too close for Tripp’s comfort and Tan’s bangs have an uncanny similarity to Nic’s.

Is the web-comic story based?

No, each strip is pretty much a joke in and of itself.  Some characters make re-appearances but reading every strip in order is by no means a necessity.  If you’d like to see where we started and where we are now feel free…there have been improvements.

Why “Two Tokens”?

Couple reasons.  First, there are “two” of us.  Second, we’re “tokens” as in minorities.  Third, we use “tokens” as a gaming reference.  Plus, we just thought it sounded cool.

Do you like bacon?

Yes, yes we do.

New strips released every Friday.
